A deposit is required to secure your services and to reserve your due date on my calendar. The balance is due by the time I’m on call for your due date unless otherwise arranged. All prices are subject to HST.

FAQ

When do you I arrive, and how long do you stay?

As your photographer I arrive during active labor (usually around 5-6 cm dilated or when contractions are regular and intense) and stay through the birth and up to 1-2 hours postpartum to capture those first precious moments and the newborn details.

Should I hire a birth photographer who’s also a doula if I already have a doula?

Yes! Even if you already have a doula, hiring a photographer with doula training means they understand birth deeply. They know how to move quietly, read the room, and capture powerful moments without disrupting the flow. The result? Emotionally rich, respectful images — and a smoother, more supported experience for everyone.

Will you be in the way during birth?

A benefit to hiring a birth photographer that is also a birth doula is I know how to navigate the birth space discreetly and respectfully. Whether you’re in hospital or at home, I follow your lead and work around the rest of the birth team to ensure a calm environment. I work with the rest of your birth team to keep the environment as labor progressive as possible.

What if my birth is very fast, or you miss it?

I do everything I can to arrive quickly once I’m notified of active labor. But, birth is unpredictable and anything can happen. I may still arrive in time for the delivery or the initial hour after delivery, if I miss the delivery itself due to a fast labor we can plan a Fresh 48 or newborn session to complement the story and discuss other options.

Will my photos be graphic?

I only photograph what you want! We’ll discuss your preferences ahead of time – from modesty to key moments you want captured. Some clients want crowning shots; others want more emotional storytelling. It’s your birth story documented how you want.

What if there’s a C-section?

In most cases, I can still photograph the moments before and after the surgery, and sometimes even in the OR. I’ll also focus on those first hours of bonding once you’re in recovery.
